Ten green bottles. The familiar, English nursery rhyme that has been employed to encourage recycling practices, knocking over each bottle, one by one, until none are left standing. Now, from singing to skiwear, activewear brand Dare2b are putting this tune’s morals where their manufacturing mouth is. From ten to thirty-million and counting, a series of fallen recycled bottles have been re-purposed to produce this season’s wardrobe of sustainable skiwear, and the next.

Under the umbrella of the Regatta family, Dare2b is a brand that does not sit still. Pushing technological boundaries, developing new fabrics and insulation, whilst staying hot on the tails of the latest trends, style and functionality are constantly combining, never to compromise. A consideration at the forefront of every design is their promise of a sustainable, environmental practice. As the season’s demands and trends change, Dare2b strive to develop an apparel that can keep up: longer-lasting, durable, strong, ethical and timeless lines that can resurface each year.

The Dare2b skiwear that is smashing sustainability

Reduce, reuse and recycle. Practicing what they preach, the company is reducing wastage by donating 90% of their returned stock and samples to charity. Reusing and repurposing recycled plastic bottles, their skiwear is both comfortable and carries a conscience. Since June 2016 and onwards, recycling schemes at Head Office and warehouse sites have recorded 0% office waste in landfill and all cotton used in Dare2b clothing has been certified as organic and can be traced back to ensure fair treatment of their farmers since 2020. As such, it is by no accident that these plastic bottles have fallen into the green hands of the Dare2b team, with sustainability at the heart of their manufacturing process. Where fast fashion has been the answer, Dare2b’s new technologies and sustainable practices seek to slow things down – that is, in the warehouse and your wardrobe, never on the slopes.

The site’s ‘Consciously Made’ collection consists of over 600 items to choose from, with a key feature being their iLoft Eco Fill Insulation, made using recycled materials from plastic bottles. Abandoning any use of fur or down in their pieces, this new iLoft down and wool technology ensures a better warmth to weight ratio, keeping you light and lightning fast on your skis. With each of these garments recycling the equivalent of at least 8 plastic bottles, their sustainable skiwear has currently saved over 30 million from going to landfill and counting. Topping the lot, the Dare2b Elite Fuser ¼ zip Core Stretch Sweater is made from an amazing 22 alone.

Dare2b Ared jacket

Coming in close behind, the Women’s Verdict Recycled Ski Jacket’s polyester material can boast the equivalent of 18 recycled plastic bottles. Made from their fully waterproof and most breathable fabric yet, Dare2b’s Ared 20/30, this jacket also features a soft fleece-lined back panel and taped seams, keeping the warmth in, whilst its ribbed inner cuffs keep the snow out if a sharp turn turns to face plant. A snowskirt and hood remain detachable to personalise to your own preference, but you can always have your ski pass ready with a dedicated pocket, as well as inner zip pockets and a mesh stow with integrated goggle lens wipe. No fiddling and removing of gloves necessary and more importantly, no holding up those early risers chasing first tracks. With padded insulation, this Ared technology is designed to regulate body temperature, taking you from the fast pace of the slopes to the slow sips of an Aperol at après. Coming in black, or three other striking patterns, this staple piece can be worn by the more understated, or seeks to help you stand out from other ski bums as you carve your way down the mountain.

With all Dare2b products carrying at least a full 12-month guarantee, any items designed with this Ared technology come with the grander total of 3 years. Sporting this slow fashion, the Women’s Effused II Recycled Ski Pants are the perfect powder-proof pairing to build on this outfit. Again, Ared 20/30 delivers a faultless waterproof finish, complete with powder-blocking snowgaitors and a tab-up hem for when the boots finally come off as the light leaves the mountain. Detachable braces and a high-backed adjustable waistband keep everything in place, moving with the body from left to right, with the pattern’s articulated knee design specifically engineered for unrestricted movement. 5 recycled plastic bottles to its name, these saloupettes also come in a short and regular cut, a rare consideration for the more petite betty’s who usually have to deal with a less stylish bunching around their boots.

"Leading the way for a more ethical and environmental business model, their lack of compromise on durability, comfort, fashion and design is a win-win for planet Earth and its plankers."

Dare2b smashing sustainability

From biting winds to beating midday sun, it’s all about the layers. The In The Zone Performance Base Layer Set is made with a recycled, sweat-wicking fabric, pulling any moisture to the outer surface to keep you dry and warm. Its antibacterial properties kill odour causing bacteria, allowing you to wear them for multiple days straight. Whilst damp base layers are one cause to expand your skiing wardrobe each season, another is discovering that the inner seams cause irritation and chafing with every turn and tuck. However, Dare2b’s soft, seamless fabric and Seamsmart technology tackles this issue to ensure comfort and durability, forming a second skin to become practically undetectable. Breathable ventilation zones also contribute to their longer lasting freshness, making them a staple on any packing list and helping to keep things light.

The Women’s Involved II Recycled Lightweight Core Stretch Midlayer is designed with a super stretchy ILUS Core fabric, again known for its quick drying properties. Fitting tight to the body, but remaining lightweight and unrestricting, its high neck design features a quarter zip for that extra wind protection when schussing down the piste. Saving 14 plastic bottles and more packing space in your bag, this item can be worn on consecutive sends. Perfectly wearable over your thermals and under a waterproof jacket, that is just three layers thanks to Dare2b’s scientific manufacturing: a far cry from the nostalgic days of stacking t-shirts and jumpers.

Increasing sustainability and reducing waste, Dare2b’s conscious skiwear levels with a demand for both long-term style and substance. Leading the way for a more ethical and environmental business model, their lack of compromise on durability, comfort, fashion and design is a win-win for planet Earth and its plankers. As the green bottles keep falling, Dare2b are right there and ready, sweeping them up and smashing their slow fashion targets.
